Applications Engineer Role

TouchNetix are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to join the team in the Fareham, UK office.

 

This role is for an applications engineer (AE) for the aXiom and touchpanel product lines.

This role can be considered in 3 main parts:

  • Apps Engineering; Being a member of the applications/projects team in the UK, supporting project engineering for touch panels incorporating tuning, testing and understanding the complete solution.
  • Providing on-site field support for TouchNetix customers as and when required and supporting the sales organisation with technical support and on-site presentations.
  • Providing office and field based support for all aspects of the Axiom product line.

The role will likely require a good amount of travel within the EU, predominantly Germany and it is likely that some international travel will be required from time to time.

Organisationally, the role reports to the Engineering Director in the UK but on a day-to-day basis the FAEs will be directed by projects and sales/operations depending on where the support is required.

Job Qualification & Experience Requirements

Mandatory

  • A degree (or close international equivalent) in Electronics or Physics (2-1 or better). Other subjects will be considered if the candidate can display good aptitude in the required disciplines
  • Customer facing in a technical role
  • A background in semiconductors
  • Hands-on experience of electronic circuit design and debug (2+ yrs)
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Complete product lifecycle design and support experience
  • Commercial awareness
  • Comfortable and confident in front of customers

Optional

  • Capacitive touch experience
  • Hands-on experience of PC software creation (1+ yrs)
  • Firmware creation for low-end micros
  • Ability to create demo and test software
  • Familiarity with typical PC based CAD applications including (for example) OrCAD, PADs, CadStar, Protel, Corel, Solidworks, ProE, Inventor, AutoCAD
